Survey Facebook Poll- School Priorities

Recently a Poll was sent out on the Vote For Kyle S. Short Facebook page inquiring about what voters felt the #1 concern was for the district. The large majority of respondents selected Safety and Security For Our Schools as # 1. I am in total agreement, while all 3 are extremely important.

The districts finances are in dire straits not even having money in the budget to properly protect our children. We have administrators leaving, educators leaving, necessary programs cut, and the inability to provide substitute teachers to our already overburdened teachers to name a few.

In order to provide for all 3, we have to get a hold on our limited budget. All of these items go hand in hand. Where is the waste?

1. Do we have uneccesary positions created for individuals due to politics?

2. Do we have top quality managers that are professionals in their field in place in all of our departments being great stewards of our tax dollars? Are they actively and constantly seeking improvement for cost savings or submitting the same budget request each year with an inflation adjustment? If they are being great stewards, I applaud them as they are contributing to the quality of our childrens education and safety by doing so.

3. Do we have overlap in our Roles and Responsibilities?

Rather than the typical slashes to affect only our bottom line, can we surgically dissect our situation and do something different? I am hopeful we can make positive change rather than solely cuts in our typical areas affecting safety and quality of education?

We have to do something different. VOTE Kyle S. Short for Farmington R-7 School Board !!!
