Does the Farmington R-7 School District Need an Independent Audit?

What are your thoughts?

In 2023, a public school district in Phoenix underwent two independent investigations that raised serious concerns about improper hiring and promotion practices within school administration. The findings highlighted issues such as:

• Appointing individuals to positions without conducting interviews

• Granting pay increases without board approval

• Filling positions that were never publicly posted

These types of practices undermine transparency, strain district budgets, and erode public trust.

Closer to home, similar concerns are being raised. Most recently, one of only three School Resource Officers in our district was moved into a new administrative role created out of thin air, removing a safety resource from a school campus while increasing administrative costs. This decision raises important questions about student safety, fiscal responsibility, and hiring transparency.

This is not an isolated concern. Taxpayer dollars must be used to serve students, not to benefit insiders through unchecked decision-making.

Our community deserves accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public funds.
